Welcome to my Mental Health Counseling Practice
Artistic expression can be beneficial to mental health. A variety of mental health issues are addressed through drawing, painting, sand tray and various craft techniques. Art and expressive arts therapy are evidence-based practice for mental illness and offer an alternate or added strategy to traditional talk therapy.
Art and expressive arts therapy are forms of psychotherapy that help clients to communicate in a way that is not threatening and is not overwhelming. The focus is not on the product, but the process. A psychotherapist can ask the client to focus on a particular subject by working with symbolism and meaning or create in a free and playful way.
Studies have shown that art has a positive mental healing effect. In my practice I integrate various expressive arts and crafts into traditional talk therapy. Art and expressive arts therapy can make people feel more connected to themselves, have deeper insights, and heal on a subconscious level.
